A FORMER Wetherby High School pupil was on the winning team in Saturday’s FA Cup final.
Micah Richards, pictured right, played the full 90 minutes for Manchester City, who beat Stoke 1-0 to win the prestigious tournament.
It caps a great year for the team - and for defender Richards, who joined the youth team as a 14-year-old in 2001.
He said: “It has been the best week of my life, getting into the Champions League and winning the FA Cup.
“We have brought in a lot of quality but I believe in myself, in that when I am playing at 100 per cent I can match anyone in the world.
“That’s why I have to keep learning, keep concentrating as I want to be the best.”
In 2006, Richards became youngest ever defender to play for England.
