A Bramham woman who co-produced a short film could soon be among Los Angeles elite filmakers after being nominated for a top award.
Former Bramham resident Leanne Stelmaszczyk and her two friends have together made an eight minute film called “Spine” which has now been nominated in the LA Shorts Festival.
The LA Shorts Festival, which is the largest short film festival in the world, will see films featuring a number of film stars such as Elijah Wood and Ian Mckellan.
Speaking about the nomination, Leanne told the Wetherby News: “We are really excited.
“I think what we have produced is beautiful and amazing we had quite grand ambitions to which motivated us to work so hard on it and we are really really pleased with the end result.
“It is just a great opportunity for us.”
The eight minute feature film “Spine” tells the story of an illegal cagefighter who faces an outweighed opponent.
The film, though featuring an all-male cast, has been produced and written by women.
As well as Leanne, the film was co-produced by Vanessa Farinha and was written and directed by Cara Barry.
The trio met at Goldsmiths College in London as Art students more than 10 years ago.
