Break-ins reported in Wetherby area

A spate of burglaries have been reported to police in the Wetherby area at the start of the new year.

Overnight Thursday January 7 a house on Freemans Way was entered and jewellery stolen.

The intruders also took the keys to steal the home owners’ silver Mercedes, registration YE60 NMM.

A spokesman for Wetherby police said the vehicle has not been found.

At about 2.20am on Wednesday January 13 two men were seen on seen on cctv trying to force entry through the front door of Costa Coffee in the Market Place at Wetherby. No entry was gained but damage was caused.

Police said the suspects left the scene in a white car derived van.

“Further examination of cctv in the area is being undertaken to establish the registration number of the vehicle,” said the spokesman.

Overnight January 5-6 someone tried to force entry to two houses on Elmete Avenue in Scholes. They caused damage to door locks but did not gain entry.

In the early hours of Sunday January 10 car keys were taken by intruders at a house in Woodacre Green, Bardsey, and used to steal a grey VW Golf, registration MD65 AJV.
