Jewellery and important documents have been stolen from a house in Sherburn-in-Elmet in a “brazen” burglary, police say.
Thieves stole a range of items from the house on Everlsey Court including a gold engagement ring with five small diamonds, two gold rings and a box containing passports and birth certificates.
The incident is believed to have happened between 1.45 and 4pm on Wednesday August 21 when the house was empty.
DC Kendra Bamber, of Selby CID said: “This brazen burglary took place in broad daylight and I’m appealing to anyone who can assist our investigation, to get in touch.
“It took place on a residential housing estate and the burglars would probably have made a noise as the broke the lock.
“If you recall any suspicious activity in the area, which you may not have thought significant at the time, I urge you to please get in touch.
“I also ask that anyone who finds any discarded personal documents including passports or birth certificates contacts us without delay.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for DC Kendra Bamber.
