Beer-lovers can celebrate one of the first beer festivals of 2013 when it gets underway in Boston Spa this weekend.
The annual Boston Spa Beer Festival, now in its fifth year, takes place tomorrow, Friday 15, and Saturday 16 at Boston Spa Village Hall.
And organisers are now hoping to smash last year’s fundraising target of £11,500 at this year’s event.
Boston Spa resident and organiser David Ranby said cash raised will go towards St Mary’s C of E Primary School and Boston Spa Village Hall,
He told the News: “The festival is one of the first social events in this neck of the woods in the year.
“It is quite a look-forward to event in Boston Spa.
“It is also a very family-friendly event, with serious beer drinkers tending to come on Friday night and a completely different atmosphere on Saturday.”
This year’s event will see the launch of ‘Cained’ a beer brewed especially for the festival by Yorkshire-based brewery Brown Cow.
Visitors from across Yorkshire are expected to attend the popular festival - including Emmerdale star Geoff Horsley- who plays Cain Dingle in the hit soap.
Another visitor will be coming from as far away as South Carolina in the United States.
Beer fan JP Boileau, of Columbia, South Carolina, will be attending the event following a conversation on social networking site Facebook with festival organisers.
The American then confirmed he will be using his airmiles to attend the village festival on Friday- and may even bring some home-brewed local beer.
A range of entertainment will be provided at the festival including an auction, children’s face-painting and a children’s disco.
Pub games including Skittles and Bagatelle will also be available.
The Festival opens on Friday from 6.30pm until 11.30, and Saturday from 12-noon till 7pm.
Tickets can be bought online at http://www.bostonspabeerfestival.co.uk (£5.75) or from Douglas Yeadon Hardware on Boston Spa High Street (£5).
Friday night is advanced-tickets only, but on Saturday tickets can be bought at the door.Have you got a story for the Wetherby News? Contact us at Wetherby.News@ypn.co.uk
