St Edward’s Roman Catholic Church: services for the coming week are as follows Saturday, May 21 6pm vigil mass, Sunday, May 22 10am, Monday, May 23 to Friday, May 27 9.30am (10am on Thursday).

Clifford Methodist Church: on Sunday, May 22, there will be a service at 10.30am. There will also be an open house coffee morning in the Methodist schoolroom on Tuesday, May 24 from 10–11.30am. Meanwhile, the church now has its own website, which is worth visiting, and can be found at http://www.cliffordmc.org.uk.

St Luke’s Church: there will be a family service on Sunday, May 22 at 11am. Meanwhile, members of St Luke’s are attempting to update, and expand the book, A History of St Luke’s, first written in 1992, by the late Colin Sellars. Leading these efforts is Colin’s Daughter Jane, who is keen to gather more information. Anyone with any information on, or personal memories of St Luke’s should contact V Gausden on 01937 843575.

Concert: the excellent Valenzano Ensemble will perform a concert of 17th and 18th century concertos, at St Luke’s Church on Saturday, June 11. Music includes Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’, and Bach’s sixth Brandenburg concerto, an exciting piece said to be written in the happiest time of the composer’s life. Tickets cost £10, including food and drink, and can be obtained by calling the Gausdens on 01937 843575. The start time is 7.30pm.

Coffee Morning: the coffee morning held on Saturday, May 7 in aid of leukaemia and lymphoma research, raised the grand sum of £770. Thanks are given to all who supported it.

Police Meetings: partners and communities together hold meetings every six weeks, for the villages of Boston Spa, Clifford, Thorp Arch, Bramham, and Walton. A local officer will be in attendance to offer any advice and listen to any problems and concerns the public wish to raise. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, June 16 at 7pm, in Boston Spa village hall.

Clifford AFC: bingo is now a regular event, normally on the second Tuesday of every month, starting at 7.30pm. Entrance fee of £3 includes raffle ticket. The next bingo is in June.
