St Edward’s Roman Catholic Church: services for the coming week are as follows: Saturday, December 7 6pm vigil mass, Sunday, December 8 10am, Monday, December 9 to Friday, December 13 9.30am (10am on Thursday).
Clifford Methodist Church: on Sunday, December 8 there will be a service at 10.30am. There will also be an open house coffee morning in the Methodist schoolroom on Tuesday, December 10, from 10–11.30am. All welcome. Meanwhile, the church now has its own website, which is worth visiting, and can be found at http://www.cliffordmc.org.uk.
St Luke’s Church: there will be a holy communion service on Sunday, December 8, at 11am.
Concert: after the success of their last visit, St Luke’s Church welcomes back the Elysian Singers, who will be giving a concert of seasonal music, on Thursday, December 12 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50, and are available from the Gausdens on 01937 843575, or on the door. Mince pies and mulled wine included.
Santa’s tour: Boston Spa and Tadcaster Roundtable, as in previous years, are helping Santa out by taking him and his sleigh on a pre-Christmas tour around the local villages, stopping off in Clifford on Friday, December 13 between 6-8pm. Santa will be checking if all the children have been good little children over the past year and what they are hoping to receive for Christmas, Roundtable members will be joined this year by members of Clifford AFC shaking collection tins raising money to help fund a Christmas dinner for older people from Clifford and the surrounding villages, and also helping the football club raise funds towards the building of changing rooms at Northways playing field. Last year, over £4500 was collected alongside Santa’s tour. Live Music at the Albion: bands from throughout the country will be performing live at the Albion throughout the year, normally on a Saturday evening. Meanwhile, folk evenings take place once a month on a Wednesday. These take place on the third Wednesday of each month. The next folk evening will, therefore, take place on Wednesday, December 18. Clifford AFC: bingo is now a regular event, normally on the second Tuesday of every month, starting at 7.30pm in the village hall. Entrance fee of £3 includes raffle ticket. The next bingo is in December.
