A local councillor is calling for an HGV ban on a road to stop the damaging effect on villages in the Wetherby area.

Councillor Matthew Robinson (Harewood Ward) says there should be a ban on lorries on the A659 between Collingham and Linton – and is set to raise the matter as the Wetherby News went to press yesterday.

“Since the A1 upgrade heavy goods vehicles have been using the A659 between the villages of Collingham and Harewood to access different routes into and around Leeds, especially towards Harrogate, Alwoodley and the ring road,” said Coun Robinson.

“This road was never designed to take these vehicles and surrounding roads and areas are now suffering.”
