Provenance Inns has announced the resignation of co-founder and managing director Michael Ibbotson.

The Wetherby-based hotel and gastropub operator will continue under the sole ownership of Chris Blundell. Mr Ibbotson plans to pursue other interests in the sector, but will remain as a consultant. They are now looking to fill the managing director’s role.

Mr Blundell said: “Michael and I have always agreed on the direction of the Provenance Inns business and, with Michael having reached his decision to resign as a director, this is no exception. The forward momentum of Provenance Inns will continue, with no changes to current or future projects.”

The pair founded the Wetherby-based firm in 2010. The group, which includes the Punch Bowl at Marton-cum-Grafton and the West Park Hotel in Harrogate, now has 275 employees and turns over around £10m. Last month it was named Best Large Company 2017 at the Harrogate Advertiser Business Awards.
