Supermarket giant Tesco have now submitted their plans for a convenience on Boston Spa’s High Street.
The supermarket sent a planning application to Leeds City Council for the grade-two listed Crown Hotel site on Boston Spa’s main street last month.
The plans are for a 1,077 sq metre store and will go before the Leeds City Council’s planning committee on August 8.
A spokesman for Tesco said around 20 new jobs will be created if plans are given the go-ahead, with store opening times from 7am until 11pm Monday to Sunday, including bank holidays.
The application has led to hundreds of objections in the village, with more than 1,400 signatures gathered on a pledge wall in Boston Spa objecting to proposals.
A Tesco spokesman said: “We believe our sensitive conversion of the building to a small convenience store will offer choice and will complement the specialist shops in the village.”
