Audit and tax advisory practice Murray Harcourt is expanding its operations with a new office in Harrogate.

The firm, which specialises in audit, accounts and taxation services to owner-managed businesses in Yorkshire, is based at The Stables at Newby Hall, near Ripon.

It was founded last year by Mark Hunter, who previously headed the North Yorkshire audit, assurance and business advisory teams for well-known national firms Bentley Jennison and Saffery Champness.

Earlier this year, Mr Hunter united with Richard Bright, former Yorkshire head of audit, tax and advisory services for national firm RSM Tenon, to set a clear vision for Murray Harcourt. Both men believe there is a gap in the market for a new quality independent firm with a focus on Yorkshire private businesses and their owners.

The new office will be in the heart of Harrogate, at Royal House on Station Parade, and has been set up in response to demand for Murray Harcourt’s services.

Mr Hunter said: “Growth in the business has exceeded forecasts and has accelerated the requirement for new offices and more staff.

“The new Harrogate offices will allow us to start a new recruitment programme for roles in the audit, accounts and taxation teams, and is perfectly positioned to serve our growing Yorkshire client base.”

Mr Bright added: “Our aim is to create a brand across Yorkshire which is known for exceptional client service and to deliver a ‘Group A’ quality, trusted advisor service. Furthermore, we deliberately determined to work within a fixed price framework so clients don’t get unexpected bills and don’t need to feel inhibited from picking up the phone whenever they need advice. It has been quite a surprise to see the level of interest so many local businesses have taken in Murray Harcourt.

“We are very excited about the future.”
