A plan to expand and renovate Wetherby’s Morrisons supermarket and carpark will be completed by the end of 2014.
The plan to expand the existing store by 10,000sq ft in the Horsefair Centre was given approval by Leeds City Council in November 2012.
But bosses have said the plans “are a time-consuming and complex process” with the new-look store not expected to be completed until December 2014.
A spokesman for the Yorkshire-based supermarket said: “We remain fully committed to expanding our store in Wetherby.
“This however is a very complex and time-consuming process and a number of relocations have to be factored in.”
The expansion will include the replacement of a number of shops within the Horsefair Centre, which include Specsavers, Superdrug - and the demolition of the Seven Oaks Sound and Vision store.
A number of these shops are expected to be relocated within Wetherby. Morrisons also wants to increase parking spaces in Hallfield Lane lorry park by a further 144 spaces and make it free to use, with a mixture of long and short stay parking. A coach drop off point, new customer cafe and entrance will also be provided.
