A Garforth company has come up with a novel plan to help local charities struggling in the economic climate.
Leeds-based Heart Research UK which has won an all-paid-for fundraising event donated by CGC Event Caterers and Wetherby Racecourse.
National director of the charity, Barbara Harpham said: “Winning the competition is an amazing fundraising opportunity for us.
“It is our 45th anniversary in 2012 and we can now celebrate in style.
“Plans are already under way for a glamorous and glittering Love Your Heart Ball with dinner, dancing and glitzy entertainment, when we hope to raise thousands of pounds to fund the fight against heart disease.”
The brainchild of CGC Event Aid, the charity arm of CGC Event Caterers, the competition was open to all Yorkshire charities and the prize is worth about £10,000 but could net the winning charity more than ten times that amount.
Kevin Pinnington of CGC Event Caterers said: “We had some great entries and Heart Research UK’s ideas really captured the essence of what we’re trying to achieve, which is to make a real difference to the region.
“Heart Research UK have the vision and the energy to turn the prize into a real money-maker!”
Tickets for Heart Research UK’s Love Your Heart Ball at Wetherby Racecourse on March 3 2012 cost £45 each and places can be reserved now for a non-refundable deposit of £20. Discounts are available for group bookings, with a table for 10 costing £400. Phone Denise Armstrong on 0113 234 7474.
