Wetherby’s 2011/12 season over jumps comes to an exciting conclusion with the Party in the Paddock meeting tonight with a seven-race programme starting at 6.05pm.

The meeting has a tropical theme and racegoers can sip cocktails on the Paddock Terrace and listen to the sounds of the Paradise Steel Band.

Feature races are The Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre Handicap Chase and The harratts.co.uk Handicap Hurdle (both races contested over two and three-quarter miles).

The longest race of the evening is The Hold Your Conference Here Novices’ Chase over three miles and one furlong.

The giant screen will enable racegoers to see all of the action on the track.

And there is a royal twist to the occasion as Her Majesty’s life-long interest in horse racing is being celebrated in a new exhibition touring British racecourses and other venues, including Wetherby Racecourse on June 7.

The exhibition, entitled All The Queen’s Horses, looks at the Queen’s most memorable moments on the Turf during her 60-year reign.

Pictures of many of her most significant winners and other special occasions that reflect her passion for the sport have been included.

The display contains over 50 images, including several rarely seen photographs from the 1940s and 50s, showing the then Princess Elizabeth at the races with the Queen Mother.

Other images capture her delight in the winners’ enclosure or in conversation with famous trainers and jockeys who have served her over the decades.

And there will be other historical photographs.
