Bettys & Taylors Group has announced strong results for the last financial year.
Turnover at the Harrogate-based business grew by 12 per cent to £149.1m over the year ending October 31, 2013, and pre-tax profit was up to £10.1m.
Group finance and resources director Paul Cogan said: “Family businesses such as Bettys & Taylors are built on deeply-held values, authenticity and great integrity. Our continued success reflects that our customers understand, appreciate and share the importance of these values.
“We’re very proud that, whatever the economic conditions, customers continue to value the quality of a visit to Bettys or proper cup of Yorkshire Tea.”
The Bettys & Taylors group comprises tea and coffee merchant Taylors of Harrogate, six Bettys Café Tea Rooms, Bettys Online Shop, Craft Bakery and Bettys Cookery School.
Through the group’s quarterly bonus scheme, which has been in place for over 30 years, staff received the equivalent of an additional five-and-a-half weeks’ pay over the year.
The group also donated £360,000 to charitable and community projects in Yorkshire and in tea- and coffee-growing countries.
