Two Boroughbridge-based businessmen are celebrating after selling £37m worth of cars and horseboxes in just 12 months.

Best friends Alexander Brimelow and Andrew North, who together run Alexanders Horseboxes and Alexanders Prestige in Boroughbridge, have sold just short of 400 cars in the past year.

The pair, who also build and sell bespoke horse transporters, are also behind Ripon-based Harvey Cooper Cars, which launched in 2013.

“It’s been an incredible year, especially for the supercar side of the business, with August being the busiest month we’ve had since we started the business 10 years ago. Forty-five cars left the showroom that month and when you consider these vehicles range from rare Ferraris to top-spec Range Rovers, it soon adds up,” said Mr North.

Across the year, the most popular models were the new Range Rover Sport, followed by Porsche 911s. In July, a 458 Ferrari sold for £250,000.

“We’ve got 55 members of staff across the Group and we only employ people who have the same philosophy as us,” added Mr North.

“Next year it’s our aim to take our turnover to £45m and we’re on course to exceed that.”
