The deadline for entries to the Ackrill Media Group Business Awards has been extended by a week to help broaden the field of entrants.

Businesses and individuals now have until noon on Monday, March 11 to submit their nominations.

Dozens of entries have already been received, and scores more are expected to come in over the remaining 11 days.

Last year, well over 100 nominations were received across the 13 categories.

The awards are open to businesses in the circulation area of the Harrogate Advertiser, Wetherby News, Knaresborough Post, Ripon Gazette and Nidderdale Herald – a huge area embracing communities as diverse as Masham, Sherburn-in-Elmet, Lofthouse, Thirsk, Aberford and Boroughbridge.

This year, the awards have a new overall sponsor in Verity Freason, the respected estate agency with offices in Harrogate and Pateley Bridge.

Partner Steve Archer said: “We’re really happy to be sponsoring the awards this year. It’s a great, high-profile event and we know it’s well supported.

“We’re really looking forward to hearing good news from some of the nominated companies.”

He said that entering the awards could provide business with several benefits.

“It gives companies the recognition they want,” he said. “It’s good for staff morale and could even help increase turnover.

“Ultimately, it improves the net worth of the firm, so it could be the perfect platform for expanding the business.”

Fellow partner Matthew Stamford agreed: “It’s also about brand awareness – it’s great to get that success story out there, isn’t it?”
