Bluekings rhythm and blues special: on Saturday, November 24. Live music, dance party night and special guests Albion in support. The Bluekings are a popular five piece band. Now veterans of the UK blues circuit, the Bluekings have been winning over audiences with their distinct blend of up-tempo Chicago and West Coast harp driven swing blues for the last sixteen years. With three vocalists, two lead guitarists, harmonica and a solid rhythm section, they deliver an unpretentious, authentic sound. Following on from several well received performances in Nashville Tennessee the band have set their sights on Chicago next. Albion are a Year 10 indie rock band from St John Fisher School in Harrogate. Strongly influenced by Oasis and The Beatles, they play their own songs mixed with covers from bands such The Who, The Jam and Two Door Cinema Club. The band have played a number of successful gigs and released their first CD featuring four songs written by singer and bass player James Megarry earlier this year. The band also features Sam Kay and Ollie Heum on guitars and Niall Robinson on drums. So please put on your dancing shoes and come and see Albion and the Bluekings, don’t expect an early night. Community Governor recruitment: The governing body of Primrose Lane Primary School at Boston Spa, require two community governors to join their governing body and would be delighted to hear from anyone who has an interest in the performance of this excellent school, a desire to contribute to and represent the community, an enquiring mind and the confidence to ask questions and join in debate, the equivalent of two evenings per month spare time. Please don’t be put off by thinking that you have to have specialist expertise or knowledge. Enthusiasm and interest is much more important to start with and there is training and support available to help you throughout the four years term of office. I would like to stress that being a governor can be enjoyable, stimulating and rewarding. If you are interested but would like to know more before committing yourself then why not first have an informal chat with Mrs E Small (Chair of Governors), or Mr. C Holmes (Headteacher).
