Forthtell: invites you to a lecture and discussion on issues of the day. Jazz in the Spa: the session this Saturday, November 9 Bateman Brothers Jazz Band – making a first appearance having been recommended to us, the band plays tribute to one of the world’s greatest jazz bands – Louis Armstrong and his All Stars. In recent times, the brothers have been stalwarts of the Ball and Bilk bands. Alan Bateman on trumpet, Ian B on trombone with Trevor Whiting on clarinet plus a superb rhythm section. The WiSE Owl Cafe: Boston Spa Village Hall (Jubilee Room) Every week we have delicious home-made soup, bacon sandwiches are new on the menu along with delicious freshly prepared scones which are proving very popular. Afternoon tea is another new tempting treat on the menu. The Cafe provides a service to the community that goes beyond coffee and cake...It is a vibrant, friendly and sage place to meet and eat. We already have some regular customers taking advantage of our loyalty scheme. A warm welcome awaits!
The annual Oxfam Christmas Coffee Morning: is on Saturday November 9 in Boston Spa Village Hall between 10am-12.15pm. Entry is £1.50, to include coffee and home-made biscuits and there will be some exciting stalls, a Christmas stall, a cake stall, superb crafts, Oxfam goods and Christmas cards, a chocolate tombola, games and quizzes and a high quality raffle, and lots more. Come and join us at this popular event where there will be a warm welcome for all .
Primrose Lane PTA: present Boston Spa’s community bonfire and fireworks spectacular at Primrose Lane School on Saturday November 9. Gates open at 5.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 6.30 and the grand firework display starting at 7pm. Hot food and drinks will be served all evening with a barbecue serving burgers and hotdogs, Voakes pie and peas and jacket potatoes. Also being served is our ever popular mulled wine. There will be lots for the family to enjoy including fun fair rides, stalls and tombola. Local charity Martin House will also be returning to sell Christmas cards and gifts. Chairman of the bonfire committee, Malcolm Duncan said “the bonfire is a great community event and an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy themselves. We are very proud to have been lighting up the skies of Boston Spa for over 40 years and are keeping our fingers crossed for a dry clear evening. But, whatever the weather, you can be assured that this will be a great value night out.” Advance tickets are available at a discounted price of £3.50 for adults (£5.00 on the gate) and £2.50 for children (£3.50 on the gate) and can be bought up until 5pm on Saturday, November 9 from Douglas Yeadon hardware, Costcutters, Super Shop, Central Garage, Bramham Village Stores and JBK’s convenience store.
