5th annual Boston Spa Arts Festival: will be held at the Boston Spa Village Hall on Friday, October 11 from 10am-5pm and Saturday, October 12 from 10am-4pm. Included will be painting, collage, sculpure, photography, textiles and needlework, jewellery, glass, prints and printmaking, wooden toys and wood turning, gifts and cards. Entrance fee on 50p, tere will be a tea room serving light refreshments. All proceeds will go to the Boston Spa Village Hall Renovation Fund. Jazz in the Spa: the session this Saturday, October 12, Nova Scotia Jazz Band, rousing traditional jazz in the Chicago style from this Edinburgh based group which has proved highly popular on previous visits. Led by reeds player John Burgess and, on this occasion, featuring two of our most popular musicians from the Midlands, Richard Leach on trombone and Graham Smith on drums. Boston Spa Farmers Market: will be held on Friday, October 11 from 9am-noon. It is held in Millenium Square, outside Boston Spa Library. Come and buy all that is fresh and local from breads, pies, cakes, fruit and vegatables and locally produced meats.

Boston Spa Methodist Church: Sunday, October 13 – 10am United Service at St Mary’s Rev Susan Greenhart. All are welcome to join us at any of our services and events, and for refreshments afterwards in the Wesley Room.

St Mary’s Church: next service on Sunday, October 13 is 8am Holy Communion, 10am United Service with Methodist Church at St Mary’s Church, Boston Spa.

St Mary’s Ark: every first and third Thursday of the month from 1.45-3pm (term time only). Our next meeting will be today, Thursday, October 17.

Oxfam Christmas Coffee Morning: is on Saturday November 9 in Boston Spa Village Hall between 10am and 12.15pm.

Primrose Lane PTA: present Boston Spa’s community bonfire and fireworks spectacular at Primrose Lane School on Saturday, November 9. Gates open at 5.30pm with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and the grand firework display starting at 7pm. Hot food and drinks will be served all evening with a barbecue serving burgers and hotdogs, Voakes pie and peas and jacket potatoes. Also being served is our ever popular mulled wine. There will be lots for the family to enjoy including fun fair rides, stalls and tombola. Local charity Martin House will also be returning to sell Christmas cards and gifts. Chairman of the bonfire committee, Malcolm Duncan said “the bonfire is a great community event and an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy themselves. We are very proud to have been lighting up the skies of Boston Spa for over 40 years and are keeping our fingers crossed for a dry clear evening. But, whatever the weather, you can be assured that this will be a great value night out.” Advance tickets are available at a discounted price of £3.50 for adults (£5 on the gate) and £2.50 for children (£3.50 on the gate) and can be bought up until 5pm on Saturday, November 9 from Douglas Yeadon hardware, Costcutters, Super Shop, Central Garage, Bramham Village Stores and JBK’s convenience store.
