Acclaimed singers the Spirit Of Harmony are aiming for the high notes at the Barbershop Convention in Bournemouth in May.

And the men’s chorus, which meets every Thursday evening in the Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster, is looking for new talent.

Spokesman Mike Earle said: “Spirit of Harmony is recognised as one of the foremost barbershop choruses in the country, having won four bronze medals and new being outside the top four since 2006.

“Under a new Musical Director, Sally McLean of The White Rosettes fame, the chorus hopes to go even better in the future.”

Formed in 1993 with just 11 members, 20 years on the club has over 50 members, ranging in age from 11 to 83.

The group will hold a rehearsal at Wetherby Social Club on March 21 at 7.30pm and anyone interested can go along.
