Young opera stars set to shine
THREE talented youngsters from Boston Spa and Clifford will take part in the next production by Leeds Youth Opera.
Will Gausden and Tim Pascoe from Boston Spa and Grace McGee from Clifford are among the cast of Idomeneo: an adaptation by Mozart of a Greek myth.
The group rehearse on Saturday mornings, and were recently visited by Leeds North-West MP, Greg Mullholland, who is a patron.
He was there to listen to the group, and to meet the Musical and Artistic Directors, Michael Williamson and Jonathon Clift. Afterwards, he said how impressed he was by the high standard of musical and performance talents of the cast.
Leeds Youth Opera (LYO) is a group for young people living in and around Leeds, aged 12-25.
Unique opportunity
The company's purpose is to provide them with a chance to take part in a full opera twice a year. Throughout its 30-plus years of entertaining audiences in Leeds, it has always been a unique opportunity particular to the city, and is believed to be the only one of its kind throughout Britain.
Performances are on February 6,7,8,and 9 at 7.30pm, at the Carriageworks theatre in Millennium Square, Leeds.
