Theatre group in search for main roles

Auditions are to take place this weekend for Wetherby Musical Theatre Group’s latest production.

The increasingly popular amateur thespians are to perform Godspell in April.

And the auditions for principal roles will take place at Deighton Gates Primary on Sunday from 10am-4pm.

“Wetherby Musical Theatre Group is a very friendly and open group which is keen to continue to grow and develop in the Wetherby Community,” said spokesman Beverley Lyn.

They added that anyone who would like to join the chorus or who can’t make the auditions can go along to the rehearsals on Tuesdays at the primary school at 7.30pm.

The spokesman added: “If you don’t feel like treading the boards, but would like to work backstage in areas such as: costume, make up or set building, then please come along any Tuesday evening at the above location and time.”

Godspell follows on from the group’s highly successful production of rock musical Little Shop of Horrors last October.

The new show, to be staged at St James Church on April 25 to 27 at St James Church, will be directed by Chris Knill and musically directed by Nick Eastwood.

“They are both excited at being involved in this production,” added Beverley.
