Special night with acting dynasty at Royal Hall

Having been lovingly restored and with an exciting collaborative programme from Harrogate Theatres, this sumptuous venue’s spring line-up not only features superstar singers such as Elaine Paige and Tony Christie, jazz legends Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk and classical orchestra the Northern Sinfonia but members of acting royalty in the shape of Honor Blackman and Edward Fox.
The latter is making his visit to Harrogate a family affair on Sunday, May 5.
He will be starring alongside his wife Joanna David, daughter Emilia Fox (Silent Witness) and son Freddie Fox in Saints And Sinners, an erudite, musical and humorous look at all things naughty and nice.
Britain’s glamorous theatrical dynasty present a fascinating collection of the really good, truly wicked and those torn both ways, taking in everything from Genesis to Jane Austen, Richard III to Mark Twain, Mother Teresa to Lord Byron.
There’s another familial tie here for Fox; the Royal Hall itself was the brainchild of his great-grandfather, industrialist, inventor and leading Yorkshire figure, Samson Fox, who had visited the kursaals of European spa towns, liked what he experienced and successfully lobbied to have one built in Harrogate.
Determined to make Harrogate’s Kursaal as magnificent as possible, he enlisted renowned theatre designer Frank Matcham.
