The Alex, sorry, The Alexandra, Pizza Kitchen & Bar has been closed for several weeks while extensive refurbishment has taken place inside and out.
Now, says general manager Lawrence Shirley, this popular spot on on Prospect Place ready to roll again with a mix of the traditional and the modern.
He said: “The new-look interior will have a fresh, vibrant feel. Feature and traditional timber wall panelling will be a theme, as well as contemporary tiling, But it will stick to quintessential English pub design.”
Following tomorrow night’s VIP launch party,The Alex, sorry, The Alexandra, Pizza Kitchen & Bar, will open to the public from 9pm.
A great line up of entertainment is planned throughout the weekend, including a guest appearance from Tony Audenshaw who plays Bob Hope in the ITV soap Emmerdale.
He’ll be playing a host of favourites with his band White Van Man at this venue facing the West Park Stray.
Lawrence said: “After seeing Tony and his band on numerous occasions, we knew they were the act we wanted to open The Alex, on such an important and special evening. They play some fantastic songs and come with bags of energy. We’re known for great entertainment so they’ll fit right in.”
He said: “We’ve worked hard to maintain the traditional pub values but bring a new lease of life with proper home-cooked pizza and a great range of world drinks.”
As well as being transformed into a sparkling new Pizza Kitchen and Bar, though live sports broadcasts will continue as normal, The Alex intends to build on its reputation for presenting big name local bands plus classic tribute acts from round the country.
