Feast of colour for the eye at new joint exhibition at Walker Galleries
WALKER Galleries in Harrogate are hosting a joint exhibition of the latest works by Caroline Bailey RSW and Jenny Wheatley RWS NEAC later this month.
Both artists have a devoted following of collectors and their shows are always eagerly awaited.
Their work resonates with colour, from deep crimsons to depthless blues to acid greens, applied broadly with the supreme confidence engendered by years of experience. This exhibition is a feast for the eye.
Caroline Bailey RSW was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) in 1999 and has a large following both in England and Scotland.
Her style is easily recognisable, and her still lifes and seascapes, in watercolour and gouache, are much sought after.
Caroline’s love of the sea is long standing and goes back to her first visit to the Western Isles of Scotland more than 20 years ago.
She won the Artist Award at the Royal Watercolour Society in 1997 and has had major solo exhibitions in London, Chester, Dublin, Manchester and the Cotswolds.
Jenny Wheatley RWS NEAC trained at West Surrey College of Art and Design.
Her mixed exhibitions include: RA Summer Show; Royal Scottish Academy; Scottish Gallery; Royal West of England Academy. She has painted and travelled widely in Europe, the Middle East, India and in an expedition to the South Pacific underwritten by Christie’s Contemporary Art.
On Channel 4 she has been a guest judge on the Richard and Judy Show in 2003 and an art expert on Watercolour Challenge in 2000 and 2001.
She has an extenstive list of solo echibitons in London and may of her works are in majopr private and public collections worldwide.
The joint exhibition will run from May 19-27 at Walker’s Contemporary Gallery at 13 Montpellier Parade, Harrogate.
