I AM a local businessman in Boston Spa. I am hoping that my letter will generate some action with regard to local groups of youths who are causing trouble to members of the public and also my customers, through their unruly and threatening behaviour.

Last week a customer of mine was removing cash from the local cash point close to my business and was attacked by these thugs. Firstly with verbal abuse and subsequently a very nasty, physical attack.

The local police were summoned, who spoke to the culprits who were reprimanded.

These are youngsters, 13 to 15 years of age. Their response is that they are ‘minors’ and therefore cannot be touched.

It is disgraceful that they are allowed to get away with such unruly and anti-social behaviour. I feel very strongly that if this is not addressed it will have a detrimental affect on the local businesses in Boston Spa many of who have been party to similar instances.
