Tea dances a huge hit at Sun Pavilion

DANCERS who flock to a summer season of Tea Dances at Harrogate's Sun Pavilion are dusting down their dancing shoes for the new term.
Started as a one-off, the event proved so popular that its host Barbara Simpson took centre stage along with Mike Hine to ensure its continued success.
The dances will run again at the Valley Gardens venue to raise money for the Royal Hall Restoration Trust.
Barbara, a former professional singer, said: "I never expected we would be starting our fourth season. It was supposed to be a one off event. But because of the demand here we are again."
The season opens on July 29 and runs every Tuesday until September 2.
The dance is held from 2.30pm with dancing to Terry Wadkin at the keyboard.
Barbara, who was among guests of honour when the Queen reopened the Sun Pavilion after its restoration, said all money raised from the dance would go towards "paying for those little extras at the Royal Hall which makes the venue such a special place."
Admission, which includes tea, cakes and biscuits, costs £5.
