Harrogate deputy mayor chosen

REG Marsh has been selected as Harrogate Council's new deputy mayor, following the resignation of Morris Lightfoot.
The Liberal Democrat party nominated Coun Marsh at a meeting of the full council on Thursday night, and he was unanimously chosen for the role.

Hookstone ward councillor Reg Marsh took up the post with immediate affect, sitting alongside Mayor of the Borough of Harrogate Coun John Fox for the rest of the meeting.

Coun Pat Marsh will serve as deputy mayoress for the remainded of the year.

Coun Lightfoot will appear before Harrogate Magistrates on Friday on three counts of attempting to incite a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity by asking her if she wanted to have sex.
