THINK Yourself Slim was the title of the talk organised by Thirsk Chamber of Trade Ladies group at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Thirsk, recently. Jasey Bilbrough PhD, M.A., NLP Practitioner, Reiki Master and Registered Louise Hay teacher started by sayi
ng “Many people think I am a bit mad” which grabbed the interest of the audience straight away!
A Paul McKenna style workshop, Jasey talked about how the body is geared to eat little and often, and talked about everyone’s love of chocolate which should be kept as a treat separate from meals.
Jasey focused on the mind, emotional and physical body and focused on the importance of the correct balance of minerals in the diet. A lack of trace minerals can cause us to want to eat a lot.
The audience tried different types of food, and noticed a difference in taste when they paid attention to what they were eating – conscious eating.
She touched on the subject of food sensitivity which causes toxins to build up in the body and then we retain fluid.
The ‘muscle test’ was a way of finding out whether the body likes certain foods or not, such as wheat, tomatoes, coffee, chocolate and oranges.
The audience were encouraged to talk to their bodies positively and also to get used thinking about portion control and leaving food on their plate.
Jill Miller of Thirsk Ladies group thanked Jasey, and said that each year the group have to raise £6,000 for Thirsk Christmas lights, and Jasey had given her time free of charge to help with the fundraising. The evening raised £225.
