THE General Tarleton, Ferrensby, has made it into the top ten of a top 100 list of the Best of the Best Pubs in the UK, being placed sixth.
Eat Out magazine has put together the list of best eating pubs from comments made by all the national food guides, trade publications, food promotion bodies, professional bodies and regional and national newspapers. Readers of the national trade magazine also added their nominations to the list.

Owners John and Claire Topham are delighted.

Claire said: “It is wonderful to see a Yorkshire pub in the top ten and also to be amongst such good company. We strive to be a friendly welcoming place where people can enjoy eating out whatever the occasion. We are lucky to have excellent local produce on our doorstep, a great team and customers who return again and again.”

In the past 12 months the General Tarleton has won awards from the Yorkshire Tourist Board and Deliciouslyorkshire.

John Topham has run and been head chef at the General Tarleton for eight years and is a huge supporter of regional producers around Yorkshire, with 75 per cent of ingredients from suppliers within 30 miles of their front door.
