One of the art industry's most prolific printmakers, Picasso produced a substantial body of etchings, lithographs and linocuts, drypoints and woodcuts with a selection of his work showing soon at the Gascoigne Gallery.

Born the son of an artist and drawing master, Picasso was absorbed in art from his childhood. His work is suffused with a passionate love of life, and no artist has more devastatingly exposed the cruelty and folly of his fellow men or more rapturously celebrated the physical pleasures of love.

The limited edition fine art prints are proof of his demeaning attitude to women, characterising them as either "goddesses or doormats" and show an ability and power to impress his genius in even the smallest and slightest of his works.

The exhibition shows from October 11 to 26. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm, or visit by appointment, the gallery is situated on Royal Parade.
