Chorus to give concert in cathedral

HIGHLY-acclaimed Leeds Festival Chorus, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, is giving a concert of French Choral Glories in Ripon Cathedral tomorrow at 7.30pm.
The 170-strong Leeds Festival Chorus is accompanied by the York Guildhall Orchestra in performances of Fauré’s Requiem and Poulenc’s Gloria.
Soprano soloist is Sophie Bevan, and the baritone is Paul Gibson from Opera North.
The concert will be conducted by Simon Wright, the well-known aonductor and artistic adviser of the Leeds Festival Chorus and also principal conductor of the York Guildhall Orchestra.
“We always look forward to our concerts in Ripon’s wonderful cathedral and are pleased to support its Music Foundation,” said Simon.
